body form/dressmakers doll...

Evening all!!!
well things have been going swimmingly this week and all is right with the world!!!
Last weekend i was in tears of laughter and this is why.......
For the last few weeks have been having a problem with making dresses and tops to fit me perfectly.I always manage to find something that either is baggy at the bust or too small around the boobs and humongous at the bottom....so when my new "SEW!" magazine came i was flicking through it and found an interesting article on how to make your own body cast so that garments fit properly...so we took a deep breath and had a good long read...it took me two days to absorb what it was saying to me,but i wanted to give it a go...so Saturday morning i spent my final £5.00 on duct tape and a second hand t-shirt from a charity shop, and made my way home with my finds...i was grinning like a Cheshire cat...my son and hubs thought i was totally demented, then i explained my self and i honestly thought my hubs and son were going to commit me to the nearest mental institution...but they went along with what i asked them...
i stripped off all my jewelery and then put on the massive t-shirt..my son broke out the duct tape(gaffer tape) my son and hubs cut strips of 60cm lengths of tape and wrapped them around my body from the base of my bottom right upto my neck...i looked hilarious!!My hubs and son wanted to do a runner leaving me like that all day...believe me i know what the Victorian ladies went through with their corsets under their dresses,i was having a problem catching my breath the problem was that i just couldn't stop giggling the whole time which didn't help much either...
Any way the hard part came next...my poor son cut the t-shirt from bottom to top and was worried that he might cut me ...but i told him to go for it...and he did it in one go...it wasn't until he'd cut it off me i realised that he had cut through the waistband of my jeans...so my trousers were round my ankles as i desperately tried to wriggle out of this gaffer tape laden t-shirt...my hubs was trying to chase4 me round the house with a camera and there i stood swearing my head off threatening divorce if the camera flashed even once....he got off light that time bless him!!!
i re-sealed up the back of the t-shirt,stuffed the arms and breasts with toy stuffing and used old cushions and newspaper to get it right...to be honest i had no idea i was that flipping fat!!!so with a bit of disappointment at my shape, and excitement that i might actually be able to get a garment to fit i inserted a coat hanger and made a start on a dress i am designing myself...its a cross over side tied dress in white and blue paisley..and its a case of so far so good....have done the top part and am currently pinned and attaching the skirt which is also a wrap round .....its been a whole new revelation to me ...and i am learning fast about how to do things and especially what darts are for!!!!
this week have had several mothers turn up and ask me for help turning trousers up before the kids go back to school...i don't mind ,but because the latest fashion is for kids trousers to drag on the floor and get ruined with the constant dragging on the ground...i have devised a way of turning up the trousers without making them too short and so that the seams can't be broken open....but i don't mind the more experience i can get the better!!this week i have turned up about 20 pairs of trousers...all double stitched and double seamed for better wear and tear..and d'you know what ? my grandmother is right....there is money to be made from clothes adjusting and altering..maybe that's where i ought to concentrate my efforts for the moment.....it might be a way in for me.....Oh its just I'm sick of always going without..i know my kids will and always will come first but sometimes i just get sick of being last..and sick of having no money at the end of the week,i would love to find a way into making a little money now and again...i don't want much just £10.00 per week extra would go down rather well at the minute.....but in the meantime i shall keep practising....................................................

Beautiful cushions....made easy!!!!

BEAUTIFUL CUSHIONS FOR THE HOME.....MADE EASY!!!!
this pattern is for the knitmaster 321

Right here we go,this pattern is to make these cushions....and they are alot easier than they look....so take a deep breathe and go for it!!!!
Right....
cast on 104 stitches with waste yarn, and hang comb and comb weights...(tw0 large should do nicely1!!)set the tension to 8/8 on both dials....the rissel levers should be at = on both sides the side levers should be at the dome settings and the bottom two levers should be at = and the botton numbers should be sitting at 1/1.the main dial should be set to "O"(ordinary stitch)
knit 1/1 rib for 40 rows, transfer stitches onto main needle bed and change the tension to 9.25 and plain knit for 48 rows....Insert punch pattern card two rows before the number 1...
and plain knit two more rows,
insert new colour yarn into the yarn break at the front of carriage and the main colour at the front of the carriage in the yarn holder holding to the right hand side.
change the side levers to traingle, russel levers to -/- and dial switch to "F".and punchcard reader to forward.
push the first needle nearest to the carriage so that the yarn is just over the latch and knit to end
of row.you will notice that some needles engage the main colour and some will engage the contrast colour to create the pattern,
KNIT FOR 135 ROWS.
reset the machine for ordinary knit and knit for 50 rows....
transfer every other stitch to other needle bed and engage the other carriages ready for rib.....rib for 40 rows and cast off....
n.b i always knit for 10 rows with waste yarn and just run the stitches off the machine without casting off.....place the stitches onto a needle and cast off manually.......
turn the peice inside out and sew the sides together allowing for the ribs to overlap,to create a pillowcase effect.....
turn the right way around and fill in with a pillow and use straight away!!!!

HALF TERM....HEAVEN OR HELL????

Evening all,

Well its the first day of the half term, and to be honest its a case of so far,so good.

My son has had a bit of a disapointing weekend to be honest,on valentines day his girlie ended it...because she wanted his best mate....and then his best mate didn't want her,and she wanted my son back.....I mean what a troll!!But he does seem to be a lot more brighter after 24 hours...He went to the park yesterday morning(Monday) to meet her,i thought by the way he was talking he wanted her to come back to him.....But instead he told her straight that enough was enough, and he wasn't interested in her anymore.Since when did my son grow up???But i am still having problems with him doing his homework....My son takes the view that because its half-term everything stops because he's not a school. But he's still got his art homework to do,and oh boy! thats an uphill battle...All he's got to do is the front page titled "every picture tells a story "its to do with alice in wonderland and the illustrator John Tenniel, which i personally could get very enthusiastic about,I love art and always have done....Its at times like these i wish i could afford to go back to school and take gcse Art......But funds won't allow....But i guess i will have to do some more research into this.......But under duress my son has finally made a start,it took him one hour to sit and stare at a page and finally draw some lettering yesterday but he only did one or two letters on the page and to be honest i wasn't impressed...Lets put it this way....Its taken him 4 days to pick up a pair of dirty shorts from his bedroom floor,I know i am his mum and should do certain things for them,But if his little brother is capable of cleaning up behind himself, surely a 14 year old boy is as well???Or am i wrong???Its just i don't want my kids growing up not Knowing how to cook and clean up behind themselves...They would have to do it sooner or later so why not now???I mean i do the hoovering and dusting i don't think that it would kill my kids to pick up thier dirty clothes and walk to the bathroom and put it in the dirty wash basket would you????

Still if i knew half of my kids love life i would be bald by now!!!

Now back to the knitting, well have been making lots of kids jumpers this week to put on the web..and i am loving it!!!!!This week i have made the cutest baby pink jumper and a little fairisle jumper to put on e-bay,this week i have been using up all of my odds and ends to make bits and peices.I love the way that the striping works and the little jumper I am particularly proud of.
But i had a huge surprise this week,This year i mostly made christmas presents this year....My sister in law in cambridge is a partiularly discerning lady...I made her a lovely purple striped hat with a pretty flower as decoration, with a pair of gloves and scarf...I was a bit worried that she would be disappointed with what i had done for christmas...But she sent me an e-mail with photo's this week and there she is in every photo wearing the set that i made her for christmas....She even has it on on her office web page pictures...I was very very proud,But it has backfired a bit as she has asked me for another set but in green this time,Mind you have got some gorgeous green silk in my stash at home, have had it for the last few years, and finally have got an aim for this yarn!!!
As for my black tanktop i have got to the stage where i have divided for the arms and am now completing the back so have got to adjust my pattern, and add a little bit more to it.See i am writing the pattern as i am knitting it ,then anybody who wants to try this can do it with me....and at least i know this pattern is correct.and i won't have any mistakes in it.
But what really upsets me is the accusations i have had in the last few weeks which is unfounded.
My elder son seems to be under the impression that i am wasting the housekeeping on buying wool removing food from his mouth, but the truth of the matter is that i use the cash i make on e-bay to re-invest in yarn so that i can really concentrate on a new design concept that i have had in the back of my mind for the last few months....I am hoping that this might be the idea that takes off....but i don't want to say too much about that yet...as an idea kept close is an idea i will keep!!!!
Today my eldest son has finally bitten the bullet and finished the lettering on his title page, and started to add colour, but it has still taken him the best part of anhour to do this.....At the moment it seems that in order to get him to do his home work it seems to go one of two ways....I either have to threaten him with a grounding and carry it out in order to get hime to any important coursework...For instance i had to ground him for 2 weeks just to get him to sit down for an hour every night just to do his firework and romeo and juliet coursework for english....and because it was majorly important i had to do it this way as he had already dug in his heels and told me straight that he had already done it....His english teacher, who i am in regular contact (bless her!!!) had seen neither hide no hair of any of this work....basically charlie had lied about doing this work, but because i had gone to the horses mouth(excuse the phrase!) I knew better.....But this is by the by, because it is done and handed in,but mind you we had to e-mail the homework and course work to his teacher so that it got there in time...She was very happy to accept his work this way because it means that i have a copy and so does she....My son cannot get his head around that i do save every e-mail i get from his teachers so that i can show them to him....he always blushes when i show him the e-mails because he knows he's been rumbled!!!
The only other way i can get him to do his work is to try and bribe him in a way,by letting him have an hour on his beb0 for an hour everyday....But that doesn't always work....Unless he's got a girlie in tow....and then it works like a charm!!!!
But because he hasn't got a girlie in tow i have had to say that i wanted an hour of art from him everyday and when this is completed he can then go out and have the rest of the day with his mates....That i don't have any objections but, unfortunatley he does,he just thinks that i am getting on to him for fun....But i want him to do and be the best he can ,He's got the most fantastic brain i have ever encountered,he just refuses to use it!!!
This week My son has got Work experience at Bressingham engineering,he's going to work from 8 - 4 on thursday and friday,it was organised by the college he attends, and i am hoping it will be a real eye opener for him!!!!
gotta go for the minute
bye!!!

TUESDAY FLIPPING TUESDAY!!!

Evening everyone!!!
Well its tuesday the 10th of february 2009 and well ..its RAINING.....Am totally fed up with this weather realted lying from the tv and meteorlogical office....
First we are going to have copiuos amonts of snow,so its batten down the hatches...and NOTHING....and then we are going to have rough weather, cold, wet, frosty, and snowy and.....NOTHING.
To be honest i am sick of being lyed to by the meterological office i wish that once, just once they would say on their forcasts"we haven't got a clue what the weather will be for the next 24 hours, and have no idea whatsoever whats going to happen for the rest of the week" at least it would be the truth.....I wonder if i could sue the weather forcasters for lying and worried the living crap out of all the local pensioners in our area?????
No seriously i digress,
This week has been a bit mad, monday morning o took my hubs to hospital to the pain management clinic and the poor bugger was bent over double in pain,as soon as we even get a temperature drop he's in agony, don't get me wrong he's in pain constantly but it gets worse as the year gets colder...But this time we had a breakthrough, the doctor and therapist recommended that kips trys a TENS machine its one of those funny electronic pulse thingys, thats gives natural pain relief.....well the doctor told me and showed me how to fit these sticky pads to his back and how to wire him up and turn him on,within about a hour of him having this fitted the results were ASTOUNDING!!!He was walking upright,he wasn't limping, and he was for the first time in donkeys years pain free!!!!he said that he was comfotably numb and couldn't feel his back at all...but after an hour he was back in pain...but we had had a taste of what this TENS machine could do and the doctors told him to use it as much as possible but to have aboput and hours rest in between sessions so that his skin wouldn't irritate,,,
When i got home i found a carrier bag of yarn left on my front doorstep...it was full of black double knit in copious amounts with a note from one of the girls on the estate had left it for me,i called the numbe on the card and we had a lovely conversation about knitting and crochet and what she used to do as she is older than i am and doesn't feel that her eyesight is good enough
to carry on,she was more than keen to find out what i have been upto and what i had got planned in the future...but at the minute i was getting thoughtful and decided what i wanted to do with the yarn,io can't wait to show what i have done with the yarn,i think she will be pleased....i'm going over to see her later on this week and show her how i am doing so far...
I have decided to write another knitting pattern and have decided to have a go at my own cabled sweater pattern, have done the front and back so far,but i am making it on a pair of circular neeldes,so what i am going to do is type up what i have done so far and just add to the written pattern as i do it........Hopefully my knitting patterns will get looked at...i wanted to publish on ravelry but i haven't got a clue where to start.....i did ask once how to do it but the instructions wer so technical i got as far as clicking on to add a pattern and got toally lost and lost the plot completeley...but i will work it out eventually, its just i know i am a bit slow when it comes to publishing patterns on ravelry but i don't want to sell them i just would like to publish one just to say that i had done it!!!!
This morning is driving me mental....if i see one more drop of rain i am going to scream!!!last night at 9.30 pm it was snowing heavy and i got my hopes up for a lovely drop of snow only to have my hopes dashed because this morning it was heaving down with rain....had to take the little one to the doctors he has to have a check-up on his knees every 6 months,he's doing well but has to stay on the ibuprofen for the next 5 weeks to see how he does....he's finally started to grow,in the last 3 months he's grown 1 1/2 inches in height which is a vast relief he's 11 now and doesn't seem to have grown at all in the last few years,he's still in ages 6-7 years clothing,i still can't get him a school sweatshirt as he's too small and they don't go small enough, but we will get there......
We had to go and get some coal and wood today...in the last few months we have noticed that the gas price has spiralled out of controll, the electricity has stayed about the same which is a bonus, but the gas heats our home and water,,so because we have a open fire we thought that we would use the wood and coal to heat the house and just use the gas to heat the water.and to be honest its doing the job and makes our heating bills drop from£35.00 per week down to £15.00 per weekwhich is a much better way of doing things for us...we have also found that the kids actually sleep better when we have the fire burning, they are so much more relaxed in the evenings, and the house is beautifully warm, when the gas drops in price again and we let the fire go out i think i will miss it very much.....at the minute my father has got two chestnut trees in the back garden that he's taken down,so w are urning them at the minute...the council don't mind as our fireplace is still legal and can be used at any time,in fact the council where we are are looking at installing wood burners in all of their homes with open fires as its cheaper than installing gas central heating...I personally would love it!!!!
but we will see what happens.
Right am now going to have a go at writing my cabled top pattern.............so here goes on a new thread.......
bye for now!!!

A cold wet day...Lovely!!!

Good Evening,

Well today it has snowed, and snowed, and snowed!!!!

It was a lovley cool evening and then suddenly we had a massive flump of snow.......

We had 2-3" of snow and all that was going through my mind was "LOVELY!!!" It gave me the excuse not to run around like a headless chicken trying to do a million things at once....the college was closed as i couldn't get out of diss, and the High School was closed as well, but the junior school was open..my little one, tomas was devastated...he wanted to have a snow day as well but it just didn't happen bless him!!!

The problem is that he knows that when the schools have a snow day i always have a backup plan to keep the kids occupied,Tom had hoped that we would do some baking and icing and some art up the table...

When i got up this morning and had a look on ,line i laid the table after breakfast with k'nex, lego, technic lego and art supplies...just for the mornings activities.....but by the time the kids had realised that they were going no-where the eldest boy charlie had a fit that he wasn't going to college and then in the same strop insisted that he was going to spend the day with his mates bumming around in diss......So i didn't see him til lunch time....Robyn my daughter decided that today she was going to get on and do her knitting as she didn't really have a lot more she could do as she couldn't get her foot wet....

Today i made a gorgeous victoria sponge with a chocolate icing topping with smarties on top and kip made fantastic sausage rolls,i have been teaching him how to make cakes and buns this week, and i have to say that he is as good if not better than i am at baking....which is a bit of a sickener, but i must give credit where credit is due....

After 12am the son came in and was absolutley perished with cold, soaking wet and blue with cold,,,and instead of a hello all i got was can i have a pot noodle????I agreed and within about 10 minutes he was gone......I didn't even get a good bye...Cheeky little bugger,,he then rang me up and had the cheek to tell me he was cold......well what the hell did he expect???

Any way after about 3.15pm i went and collected my little one tom from school and all he wanted to do was something with me....I know that tom's 11 but he still likes me to collect him from school so that he gets me to himself and so if he's got a problem he can talk to me without the other listening in......

So when he got home he asked me for a pair of knitting needles, went through my stash of wool and picked himself a ball of green, purple and rainbow yarn that was scrap...and sat down, askeing me to cast on 25 stitches and he began...he sat there virtually all evening knitting away, and after 50 rows he asked me to show him how to cast off and that was that,he got hold of my button tin(a massive quality street tin full of buttons....)And picked a gorgeous gold jacket buton and asked me to sew it on......and here's the proof that men and boys do knit and enjoy it!!!!

I sewed the button on and asked him what he wanted to do with it and he bought his beenie elephant downstairs and placed it around his neck...it looked wonderful...I am so filled with pride that another one of my children wants to learn something that interests me and makes me a little money on the side(just enough to pay for christmas)...and he stuck with it from start to finish just to prove that he had done it!!!!so he now has a very well dressed elephant and wants to make himself a scarf to wear to school....don't get me wrong he has scarves that i have made but he wanted to one of his own....

And me???well i have made myself a hat and i have to say that i totally love the way this hat looks....I managed to geta cheap brooch from a charity shop and add to the overall design but i will definitley be making this hat again..in a different colour of course.......but have got to make the gloves next.....
As for my knitting machine odessey Have had a total disaster today, nothing i did was right....so i put the knitting machine away and will save it for another day..........maybe tomorrow will be a better day,,,,my PMT meant that i lost my temper at the drop of a hat today......Still never mind....Tomorrow we have been forcast more snow and even more on thursday coming in from siberia....but we will see,we will see......See ya!!!

Sunday, 1 February 2009

Blimey!!!

Morning,
Its february the 1st and although we have a few flurries of snow, for me,its not enough,,,i wanted a load of snow so that we could get it over and done with, but no,the sun's shinig and i am depressed, very depressed.
Things have been a bit mental for the rest of this week....Thursday my hubs says"We are out of wood and coal,so we'd better go and get some...."which means i would be spending the rest of the afternoon humping wood about hurting my back again.......i spent the rest of the day flat on my back in agony as my hubs spent the rest of the afternoon tutting at me insesantly muttering that he didn't get what all the fuss was about.......
At 3.15 i managed to stand long enough to lurch my way to school to get the little one....but by the time i got home i was in tears...and he just looked at me....The daughter is driving me nuts, sinse she did her foot all she's been going on about is getting out of the house and going to get tom from school....the problem is that by the time she gets up the path from our house she's shattered.....so thats a no-no...
Still things are begginning to brighten up...have managed to finish the fairisle slipover that i had on order...and mail it.I was well pleased with it i followed the measurements to the letter he had asked for a 36-37" chest and standard length....it got there and it didn't fit!!!Turns out he had used his clothing size on the label to guess how big he was instead of actually measuring himself across the chest...and couldn't work out why the garment i had made didn't fit...turns out he wears a lot of cherokee clothes out of asda and had been wearing 36" chest t-shirts and shirts, but hadn't realised that chrokee clothing is a very generous cut.....which put all of my measurements off........But i soon rustled up another and posted it...it fit!!!!As it turned out he was a 38"-39" chest and wanted an extra 3 inches on the bottom.....but it fit!!!I couldn't beleive it......i was well pleased...and i managed to sell another set of hat, scarf and gloves...they'll get posted tomorrow morning....but this afternoon i shall be spending time with my knitting machine, and loving every minute of it!!!!!
Right have got to go and get the pork in the oven.......seeya!!!!

FLIPPIN' HELL!!!WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS????

Good morning world....

What a flipping week.....i don't know what i did in a former life but this is ridiculous!!!!

It all started on monday morning,i got up at daft 'o'clock and everything was right with the world and i was full of the joys of spring.....and then, the kids got up...and all hell broke loose...I had a morning of fights and arguements before they even sat down to their breakfast.to be honest i was glad that they went to school,i was tearing my hair out by the time it was 8.30am...and by 9.00am i was calm.......

The postman came at around 10am and bought me a copy of simply knitting...and after thumbing through the magazine i fell completely in love with the frog prince...but at the minute i don't have any green wool so i ordered and paid for some on E-Bay and decided to get out the knitting machine and make a start on an order that i had got over the web....i have never made a slipover for a girlie but i thought carefully about the colours and pattern and bit the bullet and made it...... I admit that i was biting my lip a bit with concentration,my hubs spent most of the morning teasing me because i looked so funny......it took me 3 hours to make this and then another 4 hours on the needles to do the rib on the armholes and neck...but thats by the by...

At 3.15 it all went pear shaped.......My little one was late out of junior school.I had to nip to the postoffice and mail some parcels and then i had to be home to cook dinner all before 4pm....Monday is the evening that my youngest goes to scouts and from 3.15pm until its time for him to go he's excited and like a cat on hot bricks!!!!

Anyway i got home at around 3.45pm my little one was puffed out by the time we got home..I opened the front door to arguements and shouting by my 14 year old having a hissy fit over a romote control car battery...and moaning that hubs had said no to the battery until his homework was done....My hubs looked at me and said that i needed to have a look at the daughter.....It wasn't until i saw her crying in the living room i understood excatly what he was on about...

My daughter looked upat me and said in a definite voice,"if you think i'm going to hospital you can think again!!!"On asking her what she had done...it turned out that she had slipped over during her walk to chemistry class and her foot had gone over at a weird angle...she heard and felt a snap, and well that was that!!!!

Managed to get tomas(my little one) sorted, done and dusted, and had the rest of the evening having my daughter moaning and grumbling about the pain in her foot....PAIN IN HER FOOT!!!MORE LIKE PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!,She even managed to spend all night and i do mean all night moaning in her sleep...she let out a scream at 3am,as she turned over in bed and hit her foot.....

Tuesday morning came round and as they all got up one by one,i fed them made them wash(yep even the teenage boy which is a flipping miracle!!!He must have a girlfriend again...)and get ready for school, and then i turned to my daughter and told her in nouncertain terms she was going to hospital or she could walk to school!!!The problem was that her foot was sooo swelled that she couldn't even get her socks on!!!Took her to accident and emergency at the Norwich and Norfolk university Hospital, and waited,,thankfully i took my knitting with me...i was trying to finish a pair of socks,,but still haven't yet!!!!we were called into the nurses station and then sent for X-Ray...they wouldn't let me in with her for X-Ray...i was a bit put out but what can i do????We went back to the main reception in A&E and waited, and waited, and waited....We finally got called in by some rude doctor, who seemed to think that we weren't worth his time or trouble...so i was put on the defensive,,they explained that robyn had broken a bone in the arch of her foot ,they weren't going to put her in plaster but a pressure boot instead so that they could see how much the bone would move and then told us that we would have to return the next day...

When i got back to the carpark and started up the car...i looked at the windscreen and there was a crack.....I got that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach and thought what the hell did i do to deserve this?????But it was only a minute crack...so i would decide to suck it and see what would happen,,

Wednesday morning was actually quiet and peaceful...no arguements,no bickering,no miseries in the morning,,,so robynand i got in the car,,,and there was the bloody crack...it has crept a little but not a lot,it was only about 2" long and right in the bottom corner of the windscreen....i still have that sinking feeling as a new windscreen for a fiat multipla is £895.00!!!!

Got to the hospital AGAIN and the doctor had a quick poke and prod and said that things were fine and he didn't want to put robyn in a cast as it would make the break unstable...so we went home and in all that time sat in A&E and in the Fracture clinic i STILL havn't managed to get these socks done,,,if i don't get them finished soon i shall put them to one side and start again in

6 months when i have got time!!!

Got home with the crack getting bigger and bigger and bigger, the pit of my stomach was getting sicker and sicker, knowing that i would have to tell hubs...about this.....I bit the bullet when i got home,he had a look and laughed,i asked him what was going on....and he said he already knew about this...he'd done it about 5 days ago and hadn't plucked up the courage to tell me,he thught i would freak!!!

So,its thursday morning,i am poised to make another slipover,i've got a half of a sock on my dpn's,a hat on a pair of circ's and my daughter robyn sitting in the living room watching T.V With a snotty cold and a broken foot, with the sound of snot being sniffed ringing in my ears,,and for once all is fine.....but i better not get too used to this....i know,i just know that something else is going to jump up and bite me!!!

SEE? I TOLD YOU I WAS CURSED!!!!

Good evening ,
well today has been very quiet thankgod!!!have finally managed to finish my first fully fairisled garment....it took some deep breaths from me,and a few moments where i had to grit my teeth and jump in....but to be honest i was really really pleased with the way things have turned out.....what i found particularly nerve racking was doing the neckline,i found that by recording which row i was at when i started the decrease row so when i went back to do the other side i could reset the row counter and pattern reader....
the past few days have been manic i can tell you!!!
monday morning i had to go to Bury St Edmunds college ...my eldest son who's 14 attends an engineering course there and he loves it!!!!I ended up with a car full of teenage boys...they were funny and entertaining at the same time...some of the things they were talking about...they were worried about what they said to start with as they were worried that they would offend ,but it wasn't anything that i hadn't heard before....i just asked them to watch the swears and we would all get on great...and to their credit they did watch their swears and we had a good journey to bury.....
When i got home i then had time for a quick coffee and then i had to go to the junior school to pay for tom's birthday special....they have a scheme at their school where you can invite upto 15 of his friends and the school provide a special menu,of burgers, pizza, and chicken nuggets all with fries and all you have to do is supply the birthday cake, the fizzy pop and party bags and they effectively have a birthday party at school instead of running mayhem around your house or a village hall which would cost an arm and a leg.....this year will be tom's last one as he's due to go to high school in September...even though he's tiny.....he's still going,am having fun with the high school at the minute as the uniforms don't go small enough.....so i have to try and find a way around that....and then i had to run off to college again to pick up the boys and had an extra one to take home ,but i didn't mind....and then i had time for a rushed tea and get the little ones off to cubs.....the i take two others as well as tom, they stayed at cubs and then scouts as it was their first go at scouts i was a little worried as tom only has one kidney that works...one swift kick in the back and its a donor time......but he's a roughty tuffty boy and doesn't take any stick from anybody.I went and picked them up at 9.30pm and they were full of jabber,,,they couldn't wait to tell me about their activities that they did and the games that they played.....and now the boys are all saying that thy can't wait to go again next week....
I have got two more slipovers to make at the moment.... and can't wait to have a few hours to my self so that i Can get out my knitting machine and make something else....have decided to put two of my fairisled slipovers on e-bay to see how they go....have got another one on the knitting needles at the minute but its a little dark in the living room and need daylight to get on an knit it as the yarn is sooooo fine!!!!
right have got to go,tomorrow we are going to stowmarket to have look at some home brewing equipment,,,,tell you all about that tomorrow........
bye!!!helena.

OH MY GOD!!!

Good Evening,

Well today has been my most fun, productive and happy day of the year so far.................

This morning i had a request from a gentleman to make him one fairisle tanktop...and was a bit worried....Don't get me wrong i am a hand knitter but have also got a knitting machine and its taken me 2 years to understand it as it hadn't got any instructions with it....but after much research and much begging borrowing and no stealing,i finally managed to get a pair of handbooks and started reading.....

Now i can make garments on my knitting machine quite competently without any problems,,well not silly ones anyway!!!

This evening i made a brilliant discovery......Up in our loft i found a carrier bag that came with the knitting machine that i originally thought was junk.....got the bag down and found hundreds of punchcard patterns that will allow me to make fairisle jumpers and slipovers especially as they are back in vogue according to gok wan!!!!have sold two of these in the space of two weeks and now i can expand what i am doing even more!!!!

My brain is on overdrive at the moment,i am salivating at the promise of the patterns i am going to make tomorrow.....I know,I know,I know that i have got reign in my enthusiasm, but i can't ......I love to create things on my knitting machine, its Sat at the top of my stairs for 3 years and now i finally understand it!!! Its like somebody has unwound my brain,re-wired it and now i understand every intricacy of the knitting and patterning process and now i can't wait!!!

Don't get me wrong hand knitting is and always will be my first love, but machine knitting is coming a close second at the moment........

these are the first two items i have ever made on my knitting machine, and now i am going to go completely mad and make as many as i can whilst the trend is going, but tomorrow i am going to make one for a girl in several shades of pink and see where we go from here....i know that slipovers look great with jeans and a roll sleeved shirt for a bloke and with a pair of jeans a white t-shirt and a neckerchief and cap for a girl....but i want to find that one thing that will help me make some real money...i am sick of being an amateur at this and would love to make enough money to pay for the work on my car to be done,,,,the mot is due in 5 months and would love to NOT have to worry about money all the time.....but i guess i am in the same boat as everybody else at the moment....i don't have many skills but i can knit, crochet, sew and design clothing,so i guess thats a start.........

So i can't wait for tomorrow to come, when the shopping is done, and the kids have all disapeared off to their mates and my partner is having a rest and i can go to the top of the stairs and get my machine out and put my brain to work......................All i can say is;- ROLL ON TOMORROW!!!!

time for me to go have got a pair of gloves to finish and stitch together,

bye!!!!
